Material in the form of slurry or dry feed enters the separator tank. Under the influence of the magnetic field, magnetic particles migrate toward the drum surface and form magnetic agglomerates. These particles are attracted and held to the rotating drum surface.
As the drum rotates, magnetic particles are transported to the discharge zone where magnetic intensity is weakest, allowing them to be flushed into the concentrate tank using spray water or removed by a brush roller. Non-magnetic and weakly magnetic materials are carried away with the slurry and discharged as tailings.
