Spray Dryer – Rapid Drying Technology for Liquid-to-Powder Transformation
The Spray Dryer is one of the most widely used drying systems for converting liquids into fine powders, granules, or particles. It is ideally suited for processing materials in solution, emulsion, suspension (SC), or pumpable paste form. This drying method is particularly favored in industries where precise control over particle size, residual moisture, bulk density, and particle shape is critical.
Working Principle:Air Preparation: Ambient air is first filtered and heated, then directed into the air distributor located at the top of the drying chamber.
Atomization: The feed liquid is delivered to a high-speed centrifugal atomizer, which converts it into a fine mist of droplets.
Drying Process: As the atomized droplets enter the drying chamber, they come into contact with spiraling hot air, resulting in rapid moisture evaporation.
Product Collection:
Dried particles are collected at the bottom of the drying tower and through the cyclone separator.
Exhaust air is expelled via an exhaust fan.
Ultra-Fast Drying: 95–98% of moisture evaporates instantly due to the large surface area of sprayed droplets; drying time is just a few seconds.
Ideal for Heat-Sensitive Materials: Gentle, short-duration exposure to heat makes it perfect for drying sensitive compounds (e.g. enzymes, proteins, pharmaceuticals).
